Darkness Is Your Ally...
With the EyeClops Night Vision goggles, your child can explore dark environments with advanced infrared technology. Set-up is easy. Simply insert five AA batteries into the battery pack at the back of the head-set, and slide the power switch to turn on the goggles. Once the screen display lights up inside of the right eye-piece, you can fit the goggles to your child's head by adjusting the soft rubber straps around top and sides.

EyeClops Night Vision goggles come equipped with a hinged, flip-up eye-piece that can be opened when the goggles are turned off, or closed when the goggles are in use. Your child can choose between the maximum surveillance mode which emits a barely-visible ring of red LEDs around the eyepiece so they can see up to 50 feet in absolute darkness, or go for the stealth mode to remain completely invisible while they explore the dark landscape immediately around them. A small switch on the side of the goggle head-set allows them to switch from a black-and-white to a green screen display.

Enhance Your Nighttime Stealth Operations
The futuristic design of the durable plastic head-piece adds to the fun of these exciting night vision goggles. Soft rubber molding around the goggles and adjustable straps across the top and sides makes them comfortable and easy to wear.

While the EyeClops Night Vision goggles provide a crisp, clear image of dark landscapes, they should always be used under adult supervision. Because the display screen is small and provides limited peripheral vision, these goggles should only be used in environments that are free of potential tripping hazards. As a nice safety feature, the goggles' handy flip-up eye-piece over the left eye provides immediate access to normal vision if your child becomes disoriented or needs to take a break from viewing through the small display screen located in the right eye-piece.

Durable and lightweight, these fun goggles work so well that you might just find yourself borrowing them from your child so you can have your turn enjoying some super stealth, covert nighttime missions of you own!

4 out of 5 stars Amazing close-up night vision -- but not for running around (3+ stars)   November 17, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

When I heard that the EyeClops Stealth Googles use real night vision technology, I thought, "I wish they had that when I was a kid!" I envisioned running around in the darkness, playing tag or Capture the Flag, and being able to see exactly where I was going. While this toy does indeed work as advertised, any kid running with it on is likely to get creamed. I see it more as a "spy in the dark" kind of toy.

The scope is a small square on the right eye, and you get a postage stamp view of the world -- or rather, what the world looks like through a window that small. The detail, within ten to fifteen feet is amazing; any farther than that, and it's difficult to make out what you're seeing. To move through a room, you have to look up and down, back and forth, just to make sure you don't run into anything. The left eye cover can open up, allowing you to see both real and night vision simultaneously, but that only helps if you aren't in complete darkness. And what fun is that? The kids who will love the EyeClops will be those who love the idea of seeing in the dark, who like to squirm around on their bellies like commandos, and who like to pretend that they have super powers. Super active kids, the type who can't stop running around, will be disappointed. This is a stationary or slow walk toy only. But it's still really, really cool.

The straps adjust to a variety of head sizes, from kid to adult. The unit takes five AA batteries (not included). The EyeClops has the option to see white or green night vision and a (barely noticeable) brightness control. Kids will like the cool, sci-fi look. And believe me, they will love slipping the goggles on when Mom and Dad turn out the lights.

Parents should also consider whether their child has a dominant right eye, since that's the only side with night vision. The goggles do slip over glasses, but any vision problems in the right eye will make the EyeClops a waste of money. 2 stars for field of vision; 5 stars for the night vision itself.

1 out of 5 stars EyeClops Isn't As Durable As It Looks!   November 12, 2008

EyeClops Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles

I received the EyeClops just yesterday evening.

The two "pins" that hold the rubber head strap on both sides of the face are not very strong at all. Unlike the larger "pin" used at the top of the head, the side pins can not take much pressure before they snap. One of my pins broke just getting the EyeClops out of the package! The other pin broke while my son was wearing the goggles (goggle?), so now BOTH sides do not work.

IF these pins were made of metal or at least a larger plastic pin, it may fix the problem.

Buyer beware! My EyeClops are going back to the store today!

4 out of 5 stars Eyeclops for home defense   November 10, 2008

I bought this for myself to supplement my home security system. Just remember this is a $[...] toy and not a current gen mil-spec night vision system. You can only view with your right eye, the left eye has a flap you can leave open if you wish. It looks to be made pretty well. Very Alien-esque in its design. The straps are very adjustable. Other than an audible click when turning the power on, its silent and the black/white to IR and IR illuminator switches are silent and easy to use. In a pitch black house you could see my shotguns laser perfectly. I want to fit an IR light to the shotgun also to shed more IR lighting. The field of view on the goggles is pretty narrow but again, its a $80 toy. It takes some practice to navigate stairs and open doors but it will be an edge over any would-be burglars. On a non-security note, its fun to walk outside and check out the night life. IR light reflects in animal eyes making them easy to see.

4 out of 5 stars Night Vision CHEAP!   September 30, 2008

Let me start off by saying I was pretty skeptical that a Night Vision product this inexpensive would be any good. I was soooo very wrong, these goggles work well and are a blast, Im sure my nephew will get a kick out of them. Easy to use easy to operate and seemingly durable. The only draw back batteries, you have to ensure you use fresh fully charged batteries or they won't work, otherwise great night vision fun.

5 out of 5 stars Awesomely Fun and Cool   September 27, 2008

These goggles are awesome!

The body seems durable enough, but wouldn't take a hard beating. The screen is very nice, but doesn't allow a very wide field of view. Actually, it's very narrow. The "glow" from the high-powered LEDs around the camera is very dim, barely noticable.
I did not experience any disorientation from the camera being centered and the viewfinder over my right eye.
It has great range, but makes it hard to navigate.
The goggles are comfortable to wear and virtually seal light in and out.
They are lightweight, lighter than I expected!

The night vision part is great, but the field of view is pretty bad (horrible). If you are looking for a professional system that will allow you to navigate with ease, these are not for you.

All in all, these are a great buy. Check your local Target for a lower price.

Have fun, and "Bring on the Dark!"

(P.S. - I prefer the B+W color setting.)
