Teacher Review Future scientists will thrill to the physical world revealed to them under the magnification of a genuine microscope. A slide containing cells of human skin looks like a magnificent intricate art pattern in rainbow colors. This microscope is the real McCoy. With three objectives--4x, 10x, and 40x--hours of scientific collection and observation await your young biologist. Heavy and heavy duty, this microscope is not for young children and is not a toy. Advertised for those ages 11 and older, it comes with five prepared glass slides. More blank ones could be purchased at a science supply store to create countless new samples to explore. The model plugs into a three-prong outlet to produce the light needed for magnification and will probably require adult help for initial use. This solid metal scientific tool should pique the curiosity and stretch the imagination and scientific acumen of most preadolescents. I--Lair Showalter, mother and elementary school teacher/I

Great first microscope January 6, 2009 The Microscope is a great product. It is sturdy, has a built in light source and three magnification levels. This product makes a great gift for someone who enjoys looking and investigating things.
Excellent microscope for young kids December 27, 2008 We're very happy with this microscope. It is made exceptionally well and is as good as any you might find in a high school setting.
Do not buy this product from Shopzeus December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would love to review the microscope, but since I've never seen it delivered, unfortunately I can't. Like other purchasers, we placed the order for the microscope with Amazon on December 5th. Our expected delivery date from Shopzeus was supposed to be between December 12th and the 17th. When I didn't receive the product, I called Shopzeus on the 15th to inquire about the package's whereabouts. I had already emailed Shopzeus and still have never received a response. The rep I called on the 15th could not give me any information about an expected delivery time, because Shopzeus used the USPS as its carrier. On the 18th I called again and was told to call back the next day, if I didn't receive my order. I called back on the 19th; Shopzeus' only response was to give me a refund, without trying to ship another microscope. The rep claimed that clearly the package was lost, but that they had "shipped out 200 of the microscopes and that [I] was the only one complaining." Based on the reviews I've read, this is not an uncommon problem with Shopzeus. Now we are scrambling to find a microscope by Christmas, since this was our son's most-wanted gift.
disappointed January 26, 2008 4 out of 14 found this review helpful
I had the same problem with ShopZeus as another reviewer. We were disappointed in the microscope. It is technically a fine microscope but after you look at the 5 sample slides, what then? There is nothing that can be used to make more slides, you'd have to buy that separately. I hit a dead end trying to return it. There needs to be a number provided by ShopZeus before you can return anything. I emailed asking for this number and never heard back. Amazon replied promptly to my help request and refunded the money but asked that I return the item to ShopZeus. I couldn't find an address for the company on their website, Amazon's website or the box. What a pain. Take a look at Eye-Clops. It was a great hit.
Microscope My First Lab - Excellent January 12, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Microscope - My First Lab (Purchased on 12/09/2007)br /br /This was an excellent purchase. I have been very pleased so far with the results. We bought the microscope for our five-year-old daughter for Christmas, 2007. We want to expose our daughter to as much as possible science at a young age. I am a medical student and I have a B.S. in Biology so I have a lot of experience using a microscope. But I believe if you have limited experience using microscopes you will enjoy using it. br /br /While our daughter is young she is very bright and patient. I gradually introduced her to the scope. After a few hours she was able to place the slides on the microscope stage, focus the lens, and change lenses. The scope comes with five prepared slides which are great. Wish there were a few more. br /br /We also purchased a "lab prep" kit which came with slides, slide covers, and many other extras to help in making your on slides, as well as with five more prepared slides. We went around the house last week collecting different things like insects from our light covers, her hair and hair from some of her dolls, onion skin...etc. We looked at them this week after the slides dried and it worked great. br /br /In summary, I highly recommend this product. It is well built and very user friendly. If you have never used a microscope before, I would suggest asking a friend who has some experience to get you started. br /br /Hope this helps
