Loreena's back on the harp ! January 2, 2009 If you like Loreena McKennett, I love her voice !br /You must own this CD, not a Christmasy CD by no meansbr /It's a studio CD, beautifully mastered.br /You must listen to the instrumental "Breton Carol" most peaceful piece of music.br /Most importantly, Loreena's back on the harp !
It is not January 1, 2009 According to the seal on the outside this is Loreena's first whole length Christmas Season recording. It is not: To Drive the Cold Winter Away (1987), is.br /br /Beautiful cover artwork. As usual with her, excellent recording and sound. The Arabian atmosphere which has become McKennitt's trademark seems slightly out of place. Certainly instrumental tracks could have used vocals. Some of the songs lack the force in her previous works or other musician's versions. br /br /Interesting and good to have, notwithstanding the horizontal graph that fits this CD.
A Treasure December 28, 2008 What a gorgeous collection of songs! Choose a quiet spot and just sit, letting this music pour through your soul...enchanting. My favorite isbr /"Noel Nouvelet!" sung in ancient French. Loreena is a uniquely talentedbr /artist, taking you away to another time and another place. Exquisite, and not just for Christmas.
Another Gorgeous Recording by McKennitt December 27, 2008 What a joy to find an original new holiday CD. Loreena McKennitt's voice is unparalled and is in top form on this CD. The song selections are eclectic and the orchestrations interesting. The only minor complaint is that the overall mood of the CD is "slow" rather than "joyous". For anyone who has enjoyed other McKennitt CD's however, this CD will be pleasing and a keeper for many holiday's to come.
Love This CD December 24, 2008 This cd doesn't disappoint and sure isn't your same ol' Christmas melodies. They are unusual, ethereal, and varied. This women is very talented and it shows in the cd. I know everyone loves Enya's "And Winter Came" this season, but I think I would choose "A Midwinter Night's Dream" as my favorite.
